Derek joined Datical in 2015 bringing more than 15 years of leadership experience in enterprise software. Prior to Datical, Derek served as President of Hart InterCivic. During Derek’s tenure at Hart, the company successfully launched multiple new products in the US elections market and doubled its customer base. Prior to Hart, Derek served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for CoreTrace where he led the company through 8 quarters of rapid growth. Before CoreTrace, Derek held multiple executive positions at IBM serving on the leadership team for IBM Software Group's acquisition of Telelogic (TLOG.ST) and responsible for due diligence and integration of the acquired sales functions globally. Derek also led the successful integration of BuildForge after the 2006 acquisition by IBM. Prior to IBM, Derek served as VP of WW Sales at BuildForge from its start-up phase through 12 consecutive quarters of growth and its acquisition by IBM. Under his leadership, BuildForge grew from no revenue to annual revenues in excess of 20 million. Prior to joining BuildForge, Derek held various sales management roles at BMC Software. Derek currently serves on the board of Hart InterCivic and Charity Dynamics. Other board or advisor positions have included CoreTrace (acquired by Lumension), Innography, StreamStep (acquired by BMC) and Phurnace (acquired by BMC).
Patti joined Datical in 2016 bringing over 25 years of financial and management experience to the company. Patti is responsible for the areas of finance, investor and banking relations, legal, HR, facilities and accounting. During her career, she has been directly involved in managing high growth operations, venture capital fundraising, enterprise and federal government contract negotiations, opening overseas operations, M&A and managing supplier relationships. Prior to Datical, she was the CFO at Gazzang, acquired by Cloudera in 2014, as well as the CFO of Phurnace Software, acquired by BMC Software in 2009. Patti is actively involved in the Austin community and is an advisory board member for the CFO Leadership Council and serves on the board of directors for Women@Austin.
Dean joined Datical in 2015 bringing more than 20 years of Fortune 100 leadership experience in technical sales and service. Prior to Datical, Dean ran a sales region for EMC where his team sold the entire product portfolio of data infrastructure, software, and cloud offerings. The team finished 2014 as the #1 team in North America for EMC. Prior to EMC, Dean served as Vice President and General Manager for PAETEC/Windstream. Under his leadership, the multi-state region he led experienced exceptional revenue performance and one of the most significant turnarounds in the company’s history. During the height of the telecommunications industry, Dean led teams for both Qwest Communications as well as MCI Communications throughout the state of Texas. His career began with Andersen Consulting in Houston, Texas focusing on Banking as well as the Oil and Gas industry. Dean holds an MBA with honors from Baylor University.

CTO and Co-Founder
As Chief Technical Officer, Robert Reeves advocates for Datical’s customers and provides technical architecture leadership. Prior to co-founding Datical, Robert was a Director at the Austin Technology Incubator. At ATI, he provided real world entrepreneurial expertise to ATI member companies to aid in market validation, product development and fundraising efforts. Robert cofounded Phurnace Software in 2005. He invented and created the flagship product, Phurnace Deliver, which provides middleware infrastructure management to multiple Fortune 500 companies. As Chief Technology Officer, he led technical evangelism efforts, product vision and large account technical sales efforts. After BMC Software acquired Phurnace in 2009, Robert served as Chief Architect and lead worldwide technical evangelism.
VP Products and Co-Founder
Pete Pickerill is Vice President of Products and Co-founder of Datical. Pete is a software industry veteran who has built his career in Austin’s technology sector. Prior to co-founding Datical, he was employee number one at Phurnace Software and helped lead the company to a high profile acquisition by BMC Software, Inc. Pete has spent the majority of his career in successful Austin startups and the companies that acquired them including Loop One (acquired by NeoPost Solutions), WholeSecurity (acquired by Symantec, Inc.) and Phurnace Software. His ability to understand product demands from a customer’s perspective and translate those demands into actionable product and development plans has led to expanded duties at every company for which he’s worked. In his time at Symantec, Pete worked directly with large financial services companies and online retailers to implement and improve online fraud prevention solutions that were used daily by millions of people worldwide. In addition to managing a development team and product schedule at BMC, Pete worked directly with large financial services institutions to provide the features they needed to achieve greater efficiency and cost savings in their application deployment processes.
Kevin Chappell is a technology executive with 21 years of experience managing teams and developing SaaS, client-server, desktop applications for graphics systems, database tools and business automation. Prior to joining Datical, Kevin worked at several companies in Houston, Austin and San Francisco holding positions from software engineer to CTO. His experience building B2B software products spanned companies from Zeh Graphics to BMC Software. During his tenure at BMC, Kevin spent two years with their M&A team performing technical due diligence on potential acquisitions. Kevin’s technology management experience also extends to consumer software products. He led the development organization at Banks.com in San Francisco as their VP of Engineering taking them from startup to IPO on the American Stock Exchange. He subsequently returned to Austin and consulted with another startup, eventually taking the role as their CTO to create and grow their in-house technology team and community platform which enabled the growth of their brands and web communities. Kevin holds a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ben Geller is vice president of marketing for Datical and is based in Austin, Texas. Ben leads all strategic marketing activities for the company including positioning the company’s portfolio of database automation solutions. He has also held executive marketing positions with other leading software providers including Troux Technologies (acquired by Planview), a global leader in enterprise architecture solutions and Alcatel-Lucent (acquired by Nokia). Ben began his career as an information technology consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the firm’s information, communications and entertainment discipline. He holds a bachelors degree in management information systems from the University of Houston.
